  • Economist Addresses NY State Economy at Chamber Breakfast

    The January Contact Breakfast—the first official business networking event of 2019—will serve as the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting. Keynote speaker Dr. Jonas J. N. Shaende, Chief Economist from the Fiscal Policy Institute will address the 2019 economic outlook for New York State and the Hudson Valley region.

    The breakfast, sponsored by Rondout Savings Bank, will be held on Wednesday, January 16 from 7:30-9 a.m. at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel. Networking begins at 7:15 a.m. with the program starting at 7:30 a.m.
    Chamber President and CEO Frank Castella, Jr., will also provide brief State of the Chamber remarks, looking ahead to plans and initiatives in 2019, as well as recognizing new Board members and corporate sponsors.

    Tickets are $25 for Chamber members with advance reservations, or $30 at the door. Nonmembers can attend for $35. Payment in advance is required in order to expedite the check-in process.     Dr. Shaende is a seasoned economic consultant who has worked extensively in the areas of global macro, economic policy, financial regulation and forensic economics, data modeling and analysis, and financial engineering. A teacher of graduate and undergraduate economics at Long Island University and senior advisor in New York City government, Dr. Shaende is a frequent economics expert and commentator in the media discussing current issues in the spheres of economy and finance. He holds PhD, MPhil, and MA degrees in Economics from The New School for Social Research, and a BA in Economics from Long Island University.
