  • DCRCOC presents Congressional candidate forum at October Contact Breakfast for New York’s District 19 candidates, incumbent John Faso and challenger Antonio Delgado.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - October 4, 2018 - The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce continues to advocate for local businesses by providing access to elected officials and candidates running for office. This month the Chamber will be presenting a Congressional candidate forum at its upcoming Contact Breakfast on Wednesday, October 17 at 7:30 AM at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel & Conference Center. Chamber members as well as community representatives will have the opportunity to hear from New York’s 19th District Congressional candidates, incumbent John Faso and challenger Antonio Delgado. This event is sponsored by Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union.

The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce works to help acquaint the business community with candidates in a non–partisan setting so members can make informed choices at the polls. These platforms also encourage a productive two-way dialogue with our representatives in order to help them focus on prominent business concerns and opportunities directly facing our region.

U.S. Congressman John Faso was elected to represent the 19th District of New York in the United States Congress in 2016. According to his website, Rep. Faso is advocating policies to increase opportunity for families and supports reforms to boost the economy and improve the quality of life for all New Yorkers. A graduate of SUNY Brockport and Georgetown University Law Center, Faso is a former Republican leader of the New York State Assembly. As a member of the Assembly, he developed and championed proposals that led to real balanced budgets, and made a difference for tens of thousands of families through policy advocacy, such as the STAR program, education, criminal justice and state spending reform.

Antonio Delgado was born and raised in Schenectady. His parents worked for General Electric and benefited from a better regional economy.  Antonio attended Colgate University where he graduated with high honors and earned a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford.  From there, he went to law school at Harvard, which is where he met his wife, Lacey, a native of Woodstock and Kingston. According his website, the values Delgado learned growing up – hard work, discipline, service and character – helped him get a great education, allowed him the opportunity to start his own company, empowering young people to learn through music, and then begin a second career, as an attorney fighting for what’s fair and just.
