  • Deadline Extended for Nominations for the 12th Annual Tourism Awards of Distinction

    POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (July 17, 2025) – Destination Dutchess has extended the nomination deadline for the 12th Annual Tourism Awards of Distinction, giving community members, businesses and organizations additional time to shine a spotlight on the exceptional individuals and businesses who help make Dutchess County a premier travel destination. Nominations will now be accepted through Sunday, July 21, 2025.

    “Successful tourism is truly a team effort, and these awards give us the opportunity to shine a light on the remarkable contributions of the individuals, businesses and organizations who make Dutchess County a welcoming and inspiring place to visit,” said Melaine Rottkamp, president and CEO of Destination Dutchess. “We encourage everyone to nominate a tourism partner in Dutchess County who continues to innovate, grow and go above and beyond to create memorable visitor experiences, contributing to the vibrancy of our community and local economy.” She also noted that self-nominations are welcome.

    Nominations are accepted in the following categories for tourism-related attractions and experiences in Dutchess County:

    • The Accessible Hospitality Award recognizes attractions or events that provide exceptional, welcoming experiences for guests with disabilities.
    • The Collaboration Award recognizes two or more businesses/organizations that work together on a product, event or experience that strengthens their businesses while elevating customer satisfaction.
    • The Event Award recognizes exceptional events for visitors and residents. A specific event or organization that hosts many events is eligible.
    • The Hospitality Service Award recognizes individual front-line customer service staff members who consistently provide exceptional service to visitors.
    • The Newcomer Award recognizes a tourism-related business or attraction that opened between January 1 and December 31, 2024 and is already contributing to Dutchess' strong tourism economy.
    • The Storytelling Award recognizes attractions or businesses that demonstrate a unique perspective and ability to connect with visitors.

    Nominations are open to the public and can be submitted online at destinationdutchess.com/awards. 

    Last year’s honorees included outstanding businesses and individuals from across Dutchess County’s tourism landscape, such as Dassai Blue Sake Brewery in Hyde Park, Grupo Folklórico de Poughkeepsie’s La Guelaguetza de Poughkeepsie, and Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome in Red Hook.

    Winners will be announced at the 12th Annual Tourism Awards of Distinction breakfast, Thursday, November 13, 2025, at The Henry A. Wallace Visitor and Educational Center at the FDR Presidential Library and Museum in Hyde Park, N.Y. Tickets will go on sale later this year. Local businesses are invited to show their support for the tourism industry by becoming event sponsors. Several sponsorship levels are available, each offering valuable visibility and promotional benefits.
