A large selection of biographies and autobiographies of the famous, infamous, leaders, scoundrels and heroes goes on sale beginning April 7 at the Friends of the Poughkeepsie Public Library District’s Used Book Store at the Boardman Road Branch. Hardcover books will be priced at 50 cents, oversize or trade paperbacks at 25 cents, and paperbacks at 10 cents to read about their favorite historical or contemporary notables. The book sale runs through April 28. More than 20,000 quality used books will be available at their regular prices of $2 or less during the sale in a wide variety of other categories including history, travel, fiction and children’s books. A selection of individually priced special books will also be available. Friends’ volunteers replenish the book shelves continually from the large inventory of presorted books donated by community members and housed in the Friends’ warehouse so the shelves are always full. The Friends of the Poughkeepsie Public Library District is an all-volunteer organization that supports the district’s programs and services. The Book Store is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The Book Store is located at the Boardman Road Branch Library (entrance behind the Library on the south side), 141 Boardman Rd., Poughkeepsie. Look for the blue awning.
