Environment and Energy Program Holds Forum on Alternative Heating for Homes and Small Businesses Learn about different options to heat your house or business! Millbrook, NY, December 1, 2015 – On Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Farm and Home Center (2715 Rt. 44, Millbrook, NY), Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County (CCEDC)'s Environment and Energy Program will be holding a forum on ''Alternative Heating Systems for Homes and Small Businesses.'' Certificates of attendance for municipal training credit will be provided at the end of the forum. This offering is funded through CCEDC's contract with Dutchess County. (Snow date December 15). Winter is upon us, and our heating systems are kicking in to keep us warm. A variety of different heating systems are available to homeowners and businesses; there are now many different options that help reduce heating bills and use renewable energy sources. With all of the different options on the market these days, how do you know which will work best for you? This forum will help answer that question by presenting information on alternative heating systems that are becoming increasingly common - both to reduce heating bills and move toward renewable fuels. Topics include: active and passive solar, geothermal, air-source heat pumps, efficient wood burners, and also home assessment and incentive programs through NYSERDA and Solarize Hudson Valley. Speakers include: Jeff Luoma - CCE Environment and Energy Program Leader, Joseph Malcarne - Malcarne Contracting, John Tremblay - Sigma-Tremblay LLC, James Kopp - RUPCO, and John Wackman - Solarize Hudson Valley. Question and answer to follow presentations. There is no charge to attend the forum. Light refreshments served.
