Founder's Day Celebration at Fishkill Farms Sunday May 29th, 2016 11am-5pm Join us to celebrate our founder, Henry Morgenthau Jr.'s 125th birthday. FDR's advisor and wartime Secretary of the Treasury, Henry was a farmer long before he was a statesman. We're excited to share Fishkill Farms' long and storied history with you. Come for tastings of local food and beverages, great music, horse-drawn haywagon rides, and games the whole family can enjoy. A Long and Storied History The festival will revolve around an exhibition of never-before-seen historic memorabilia. This includes original war bonds posters, playful letters between FDR and Morgenthau who mercilessly teased each other, and stunning photographs owned by the Morgenthau family and the FDR Library Archives. Perhaps best of all, we're screening exclusive home videos shot between 1933 and 1942, of a crucial wartime meeting between Winston Churchill, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Fishkill Farms' Founder Henry Morgenthau Jr. that took place at Fishkill Farms. Swingin' Music Like any good birthday party, we'll have lots of music, food and drinks! Swingin' jazz combo band by Seth Kessel and the Two Cent Band will be performing from 12pm-4pm. Complimentary Hudson Valley Tastings Enjoy complimentary tastings of wine, spirits, cheeses and other artisan products hand-crafted by local producers in the Hudson Valley. Pig Roast and other Delicious Food We're roasting a whole locally-raised pig, so get hungry and be prepared for crackling, juicy pork, and we'll also have our house jerk chicken, hotdogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers and corn. Horse-drawn Wagon Rides These unique, old-fashioned trips with real draft horses will be given around the orchard for the duration event.
