Nonprofit boards are not, and should not be, static. To be effective, they must change and evolve as their organization changes and grows. The board maturing process is not inevitable, and organizations may develop differently or boards may stop at one stage or another—each board and its growth situation is unique.
The Chamber’s Nonprofit Committee will host a complimentary seminar following the Contact Breakfast at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 15 at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel & Conference Center. Thrivent Financial sponsors this seminar.
“Building Your Nonprofit Board: How You Can Help Your Board to Work More Effectively” will feature a panel of nonprofit staff and board members who have changed how their boards operate discussing the board evolution process and offering ideas to help move your nonprofit’s board forward to be as effective as possible.
The panel will be composed of:
- Walter Joseph, Executive Director of the Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie
- Lara Litchfield-Kimber, Executive Director of the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum
- David Mack, Board Member at Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County
Doug Sauer, CEO of New York Council of Nonprofits will also be on hand to talk about their resources and BoardNetUSA.com,
a board matching service that can be used to promote board member needs and matches nonprofits with potential board members.
Registration is required.
