Vassar Underground & Mirage Theatre Company invite you to join us for the Broken Dolls Residency April 26th- 27th in the Aula Building at Vassar College. Broken Dolls is a drama by Melisa Tien and directed by June Prager about the issue of human trafficking. The intention of this work is to raise awareness for those who suffer systemic abuse from human trafficking. Expression of the survivors’ inner and outward struggle will be portrayed not only through words, but through music and movement. The Residency will include a panel discussion comprised of local and international trafficking experts and a human trafficking survivor to discuss the methods and effectiveness of raising awareness for trafficking, such as using art as a medium of education and solidarity. Moderated by Elise Gold, Maya Gold Foundation, panelists include: Colette Varanouskas, Anchor of Hope; Kellyann Kostyal-Larrier, Safe Homes of Orange & Sullivan Counties; and Laxmi Gurung, SASANE. This event will take place on April 26th, 5pm in the Vassar College Aula Building. Following the panel discussion will be the first staged reading of the play at 7:30 pm, April 26th, in the Vassar College Aula. On April 27th, a drama workshop on devised theater will be offered from 3-5pm in the Aula. This workshop will be customized to the attendees, be capped at 30 students, and is open to all students across NY.
