Acclaimed author Zadie Smith will deliver the annual Alex Krieger ’95 Memorial Lecture at Vassar College. The event, “An Evening with Zadie Smith” will feature Smith reading from recent works. She will also be interviewed by Vassar Professor of English Amitava Kumar. A question and answer session and book signing will follow. The author of six critically praised novels, Smith was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2002. In a 2004 BBC poll of cultural researchers, Smith was named among the top twenty most influential people in British culture. Smith has won the Orange Prize for Fiction and the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award. Her novel White Teeth was included in Time magazine's list of “100 Best English-language Novels from 1923 to 2005.” A frequent contributor to The New Yorker, she is also a creative writing professor at New York University.
