The Chamber Foundation’s Workforce Development Center specializes in providing robust programming offering Dutchess County youth and adults educational and skills training opportunities who face significant challenges in pursuing education or obtaining employment. However, our motive goes beyond merely meeting employment objectives. The Workforce Development Center is a community-driven movement that's deeply rooted in the belief that our greatest investments lie in the potential of our people. A long-lasting, thriving economy first begins with the growth, development, and empowerment of individuals within our very own communities.
This process first begins with ensuring that everyone's basic needs are met. Our programs provide wrap-around services and individualized mentorship to ensure that all participants have the needed supports to overcome unique obstacles and challenges. All WDC programs are meticulously crafted in partnership with local educators, mentors, community organizations, and local workforce initiatives, to build strong foundations for individual pathways to success. By aligning our programs with the demands of local businesses, we bridge the gap between job seekers and employers, fostering a symbiotic relationship that drives economic growth.
WDC Program’s youth and adults are connected with invaluable opportunities and experiences that inspire and educate. Paid internships, job shadows, and on-the-job trainings are pivotal program elements that provide participants with firsthand insights in dynamic career fields as well as honing both hard and soft skills. WDC’s guest speaker series additionally brings accomplished local professionals to share their journeys and insights directly with our participants. These speakers not only provide invaluable lessons but also serve as living proof that dreams can be realized with dedication and hard work. Business site tours take participants into the heart of workforce, allowing them to foster a sense of connection to the business community while witnessing the inner workings of our community's economic engine. Furthermore, participants benefit from Individual Training Awards, made possible through the Dutchess County Workforce Investment Board, to access technical skills training, certifications, or educational programs needed to reach their employment or embark on their career path goals.
Our youth and adults are not only the future of our community but also the architects of positive change on a broader scale. At the core of our vision is the understanding that the success of our youth and adults directly contributes to the prosperity of our community. When they succeed, our community thrives. Through the generous support from our funders and collective investment of time and resources from our business community and collaborating partners, we are laying the foundation for a future where our local economy flourishes, opportunities abound, and dreams become reality.
