  • Small Business Saturday is Nov. 26th

The start of the holiday shopping season is near and as residents get ready to hit the stores to find the perfect addition to seasonal celebrations, the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce encourages everyone to Think Local First.

Hudson Valley merchants offer gifts, décor, culinary creations, and more right here in our back yard. Best of all, by shopping local, tax dollars go back into the community. When the local economy is thriving, local organizations, government and the overall community are stronger and more vibrant, which is the principle behind Small Business Saturday, coming up this year on November 26th.

The Chamber has partnered with American Express in promoting Small Business Saturday—held the day after Black Friday—every year since the campaign’s launch in 2010. Last year, more than 4,100 neighborhoods rallied in support of local small businesses and an estimated 95 million people shopped locally, generating more than $16.2 billion in economic impact.

Shoppers can visit dcrcoc.org/shopsmall to see a list of local merchants participating or for more about the national movement, visit ShopSmall.com.

For businesses open on Saturday, November 26th and accepting American Express, visit dcrcoc.org/shopsmall and register to receive Small Business Saturday promotional materials and key information on how to get the most out of this important grassroots initiative. Materials are limited, available on a first-come, first-served basis, and will also be handed out at the Contact Breakfast on Wednesday, November 16 at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel.
