  • Adopt-A-Family Program Once Again A Success

As we go into the new year ready and eager for 2020 to come to a close, it is a time to reflect on how even during the pandemic our local business and community members are still here to support those in need during the holidays.

When the topic of organizing the Chamber’s Adopt-a-Family (AAF) program again for the holidays came up, I was unsure of the response we may receive from the community, for it was a trying and different time this holiday season. With many of our workforce program youth and families in need, we knew we had to keep the tradition going and I am so glad we did! We received overwhelming support from businesses in our community, and private donors were able to provide food and holiday gifts to more than 25 families.

We saw an overwhelming need for Chrome Books and laptops for educational uses while our youth and adults are adapting to the virtual learning environment. I am proud to say with the support we received, we were able to provide technology to those in need for their children and for themselves to advance their education. In addition, with the support of private donations, we are able to provide assistance to additional families as we come into the new year.

Thank you to all the business and community members for their continuing support of the Chamber’s Adopt-a-Family initiative.  For more information on our Workforce Development Programs and how you can support our programming, please contact me at 845-454-1700 x1024 or katrina@dcrcoc.org.
