    County Executive Marcus Molinaro, in conjunction with the Dutchess County Historical Society, has declared 2018 the Year of the Veteran in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I on November 11, 1918. In addition to the many celebrations they have planned for the coming year, The Chamber is proud to join this effort and offer special promotional opportunities for our veteran-owned member businesses.

    Jason Varian enlisted in the United States Army when he was just 20 years old for a three-year term as a Combat Engineer. Varian was then stationed in Bamberg, Germany with the 82nd Engineer Battalion 1st Infantry Division where they spent six months doing peacekeeping operations in Kosovo from November 2002 until April 2003. The following year Varian was sent to Kuwait where he prepared for a yearlong deployment in Iraq. In Iraq he was stationed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gabe, just 30-Miles North-East of Baghdad in Baquba. In 2005 Varian returned home to Germany and was later honorably discharged from the Military.

    The Dutchess County Historical Society presents the below video, which outlines their intention for 2018 to align city, town and village efforts with state and even national efforts to identify, preserve and share the stories of all our veterans.

    The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with Hudson River Housing's Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program to help create a database of employers willing to help out of work veterans. Participating employers will be connected with SSVF case managers for more information.
