(Poughkeepsie, NY) The Women’s Enterprise Development Center (WEDC) has been awarded a $2,500 grant from the Ulster Savings Charitable Foundation to support their training programs and services that help women and minority entrepreneurs to start and strengthen their small businesses. Since its founding in 1997, WEDC has assisted nearly 8,000 businesses and has opened doors to business ownership for low-to-moderate income women and minorities in Westchester and the Hudson Valley.
“The work we do is more critical today than ever, and we want to serve an even greater number of businesses and clients for decades to come,” said Anne Janiak, CEO, Women’s Enterprise Development Center, “which is why we are so grateful to Ulster Savings for supporting our goals.”
Since 1997, WEDC has empowered entrepreneurs to build successful businesses by providing high-quality training programs, advisory services, and access to capital to generate economic growth in the community. They provide education and training specifically to women who often lack access to traditional financial and banking resources. They are one of the only non-profit entrepreneurial training programs in the region that targets this demographic.
The Ulster Savings Charitable Foundation was formed in 2003 to assist the local community in areas of housing, education, and human services.
