SECOND GENERATION TAKES OVER LOCAL SERVPRO BUSINESS
Daughter Duo Takes Ownership of Franchise Business in Orange, Sullivan and Ulster Counties
On the heels of the business’ 35th anniversary, SERVPRO of Orange, Sullivan and S. Ulster Counties has announced the transfer of ownership to Laura and Brittany Johnson, the daughters of previous owners, Brad and Barbara Johnson.

After establishing the business’ first franchise in 1986, Brad and Barbara later added two additional franchise locations, which would go on to serve the tri-county region for more than three decades. Daughters Laura and Brittany joined the family business after each graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology and Rider University respectively, and for the past several years have fulfilled roles in different departments while moving up within the company. Now, the sister duo fully owns and operates the business with plans to continue its growth in the Hudson Valley.

“Even before officially joining the team full-time, SERVPRO has always been a big part of our lives,” said Co-Owner Laura Johnson. “We’re proud of our parents who successfully established and built this business over the last 35 years after planting their roots in the region and we’re excited to take the reigns and build upon their three plus decades of success.”

As a local company with national resources, SERVPRO franchises are independently owned and operated and specialize in the cleanup and restoration of water, fire, smoke, soot, and sewer damages; mold remediation; biohazard cleanup; disinfection; deep cleaning and duct cleaning services.  At its core, SERVPRO of Orange, Sullivan and S. Ulster Counties is a small local business with a big focus on the community. SERVPRO works with local vendors for supplies whenever possible and refers customers to other small businesses in the region for services the company does not offer. As lifelong residents of the region, new owners Laura and Brittany are committed to supporting the community and nonprofit organizations through donations and volunteer work with local food pantries, church organizations, cancer support groups, the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, Special Olympics, Boys & Girls Club, Make a Wish Foundation, among others. Furthermore, throughout the pandemic, they donated COVID disinfecting services to more than 800 emergency vehicles (police, fire and EMT) that service the region.

“As a local family business, we value the importance of serving our community in more ways than one,” said Co-Owner Brittany Johnson. “As we take over ownership of the company, that is something that will not change. We’re committed to the growth of the business with the services we offer, but also to giving back to the community in which we live and work.”
