PHOENICIA BRANCH TO FEATURE
Ulster Savings Bank would like to invite the public to their 58 Main Street, Phoenicia branch to enjoy their latest art exhibit by painter Mizuyo Aburano. Her work will be on display for the month of August.
Mimi’s exhibit is titled the “Swimmers Series” and reflects her love of swimming and the feel of water. Some paintings show the view from underwater and some show splashes. She uses pastels and monotypes to express movement, energy, and joy. “Water can be seen in so many different colors depending on where you are, what time it is, and the organic forms and patterns it creates, always amaze me,” Mimi said. “The sky also always changes colors and atmosphere, and it also excites me,” she added.
Born in Japan, Ms. Aburano moved to the US to study art. After studying art and photography at SUNY New Paltz, she became registrar at the Woodstock School of Art. She continues to take classes there and is inspired by the instructors and students that she has met.
