  • Community Solar Opportunities in the Hudson Valley

At Common Energy, we are trying to create a more just and sustainable future for all people. Part of this transition requires increasing access to affordable and equitable energy sources. So, let's talk about community solar! Community solar is a new state program passed in New York, Maryland and Illinois that enables virtually anyone to support clean energy for free, and receive guaranteed savings on their electricity each month. Instead of installing solar panels on your home, households and businesses can sign up to receive clean energy credits from a local solar project. These credits lower your energy cost each month. In addition, because renewable energy has first priority to the grid, this energy replaces fossil fuels, lowering emissions in our community. Virtually every household in the state qualifies for these new programs. Common Energy has signed up over 3,000 households and we need your help to reach more! Common Energy works with state-supported clean energy programs that lower emissions and offer you guaranteed savings on your electricity. By enrolling in Common Energy, you support new clean energy projects. These projects replace fossil fuels and lower emissions in our community. Each month you will receive clean energy credits that lower your bill. Instead of paying your utility, you will pay a lower amount to Common Energy. If you pay an electricity bill for National Grid, BGE, ComEd, Delmarva, Central Hudson, or Potomac Edison, you can reduce your emissions, have a positive environmental impact and save money while doing so.
