  • Youth Service Specialist

    The Workforce Development Center, an affiliate of the Chamber Foundation, is looking to hire a part-time Youth Service Specialist (YSS) to join our team. YSS would be responsible for providing high school junior and senior students with ongoing mentoring support and securing students with internship placements. Supports include connecting youth to employment, training, and work experience opportunities as well as performing community outreach.

    Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Recruit and identify youth throughout Dutchess County (with an emphasis on school districts) for program enrollment by attending networking events and performing outreach to prospective community partners
    • Develop and maintain a professional and respectful relationship with youth in order to encourage and model effective workplace and life skills
    • Connect with local businesses to identify employment and work experience site locations
    • Provide job coaching and site location visits
    • Provide career services to youth including workshops on job readiness, soft skills training, resume development, and post-secondary education planning
    • Develop an Individualized Student Success Plan to assist students with goals and supportive services throughout their participation in the program
    • Maintenance of daily attendance records, student progress forms, student evaluation forms, internship evaluation forms, and other reporting documents
    • Attend Chamber events as scheduled and cultivate relationships with employers
    • Attend community events with youth as needed
    The right candidate must be able:
    • To serve as a positive role model
    • To work with a diverse group of youth, families, employers and community partners
    • Show experience working with youth
    • Have an understanding of the local community and human services is desirable
    • Be comfortable transporting youth
    • Proficiency in Word and Excel required, and ability to learn program database.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Travel to employers, schools, stores and other program related events is necessary
    • Mileage is reimbursed
    • Office hours of operation: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 8:30-4:30pm, Thursdays 11:00am-7:00pm.

    Salary: $20 - $25 an hour
