All books, DVDs, CDs and audio books will be on sale at half price for area teachers from 3 to 6 p.m. on October 4 at the Friends of the Poughkeepsie Public Library District’s Book Store at 141 Boardman Rd., Poughkeepsie. The more than 20,000 books in a wide variety of categories including fiction and nonfiction, children’s and young adults’ hardcover and paperback books plus other media on the store’s shelves are regularly priced from 50 cents to $2. Red Tag books, which are 25 cents each, are excluded from the sale. The sale will offer teachers an opportunity to purchase books and other materials for classroom and personal use at half price with their teacher’s identification. The store accepts cash; MasterCard, VISA and Discovery cards; and, checks with identification. Refreshments will be served and educators are eligible to enter a drawing for a variety of prizes. The Friends of the Poughkeepsie Public Library District is an all-volunteer organization that supports the district’s programs and services. Friends’ volunteers replenish the book shelves continually from the large inventory of presorted quality books that are donated by community members and housed in the Friends’ warehouse so the shelves are always full. The Book Store regular hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The Book Store is located at the Boardman Road Branch Library (entrance behind the Library on the south side), 141 Boardman Rd., Poughkeepsie. Look for the blue awning.
