  • Work Local First Job Fair perfect for job seekers

Are you seeking a new job? Then the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce’s annual Work Local First Job Fair is a great resource.

The job fair was free and open to the public and was held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel & Conference Center. For more information about the job fair, visit dcrcoc.org/jobfair or call (845) 454-1700, ext. 1000. Another great resource is the Jobs page online at dcrcoc.org/jobs

More than 80 regional companies and organizations with positions to fill or services to offer job seekers were in attendance.

The day also featured staff from the Dutchess One Stop Career Center conducting two complimentary workshops to help attendees get the most out of their job seeking experience. “How to Maximize your LinkedIn Profile - Professional Networking” was held at 11:30 a.m. and “The Art of Upward Mobility” was held at 1:30 p.m.

“How to Maximize your LinkedIn Profile - Professional Networking” taught attendees how to assess their own profiles and improve their profile layout and information, while new users will learn how to use the site to develop their careers and network professionally.

“The Art of Upward Mobility” focused on identifying the skills needed for upward mobility and seek training or on-the-job opportunities for developing those skills.

Dutchess One Stop Career Center, Here’s Help Staffing & Recruiting, Poughkeepsie Galleria, Quality Environmental Solutions & Technologies, and Poughkeepsie Journal Media sponsored the 2017 job fair.
